The History of the Connecticut Express Youth Development Program
The Connecticut Express Youth Development Program is a non-profit Program established by Corey Googe. The Connecticut Express program provides enrichment opportunities designed to uplift today’s youth, primarily targeting the Hartford, CT area. Our program promotes social, educational, athletic, health/wellness, and cultural development to strengthen maximum potential and opportunities for today’s youth. We strive on all fronts to find on going solutions to promote adolescent boys and girls in becoming positive influential adults with the character to strive for success. We further advocate the implementation of programs that will reach across the community promoting social, physical, emotional, and educational development. The Connecticut Express Youth Development program will continue to embrace our youth as our top priority, establishing avenues for a successful future.
The purpose of The Connecticut Express Youth Development Program is to provide knowledge, increase awareness and address issues that have been plaguing our youth and communities, and equip the youth with critical life and social skills through structured learning processes. Most importantly, we want to make a difference in the lives of youth. The Connecticut Express Youth Development Program provides youth with enriching programs that establish cohesiveness through the following:
The Connecticut Express Youth Development Program teaches youth the fundamentals of basketball, team concepts, and exhibiting good sportsmanship and helps youth gain confidence. Time is allocated during development for mentoring the youth on diverse topics pertaining to their community directly. Basketball is an avenue to bring all ages, sexes, and races together.
Health and Nurtition/Well-Being
The youth are taught the importance of living a healthy life through eating properly, exercise, and adequate sleeping habits.
The youth are mentored on having healthy relationships with others, and to know what type of relationships are unhealthy.
Youth are taught the importance of obtaining an education and staying in school. They are also equipped with the knowledge of how to apply to colleges, how to apply for financial aid, loans and grants. The youth are assisted with homework and test preparations (SAT, ACT, TAKS). The youth are educated on the importance of setting priorities and time management.
The Connecticut Express Youth Development Program will provide quality service and maintain a standard of excellence and integrity. The Connecticut Express Youth Development Program strives to find ongoing solutions that will enhance the quality of life among today’s youth.
